Goodloe HUGS (Homeschool Umbrella Group Support)
Goodloe HUGS is an inclusive group, open to homeschooling families who identify with any religious, spiritual or secular way of life. You do not need to be a member of Goodloe Memorial UU Congregation to enroll in Goodloe HUGS, and we have no statement of faith to participate. We do value the following principles and hope you do too:
If your family decides to enroll in Goodloe HUGS, the cost is $50 per family. Goodloe HUGS does not provide educational materials or high school diplomas, and we do not provide classes, but we will help you find resources to suit your family's needs, and provide guidance on documenting credits, preparing transcripts, transfer to college, etc. We gather for fun, friendship, field trips, activities and events that members vote to enjoy together to enrich our families’ lives and learning.
Goodloe HUGS gatherings are open to non-member homeschooling friends and families. Grandparents and other family members are always welcome, as we value and seek out multi-generational interactions with family and community. Gatherings are organized through our Goodloe HUGS Facebook group, and include such activities as field trips, park days, and teen music jams and video gaming.
Kellie Rolstad, PhD in Education from UCLA and homeschooling mom, serves as the manager of Goodloe HUGS. If you would like more information, or would like to attend a Goodloe HUGS event, please contact Kellie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Goodloe HUGS is registered with the Maryland Department of Education as an official non-public homeschool umbrella; it is listed there as Goodloe Memorial Unitarian Universalist Education Ministry.
